Dear Carol,

Tuscany is special in any area!
I can suggest you to stay right in the middle of the region from where you can easily move to visit all the most important things!
There is a small town - Certaldo - with a beautiful medieval part on top of hill, which is located right in the middle between Florence, Siena and Pisa!
You can stay at Hotel Certaldo just 5 minutes walkin from Certaldo city center, from the medieval town and from the train station (excellent train connections to Florence, Siena and Pisa!). The famous San Gimignano is only 10 minutes driving!
... I live there!
Greeting from Tuscany!

Inside this wonderful structure there are still many works of the artist as paintings, frescoes and antique furnitures perfectly preserved.

Dear Carol,
I don't know how many days you have to dedicate to your visit however I'll try to suggest my favourite Tuscany places. In the countryside you cannot miss the Chianti area (specially Radda in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti, Castellina in Chianti), the Val d'Orcia area (with its lovely cities like Pienza and San Quirico d'Orcia, or its thermal spring in Bagno Vignoni).
I prefer the southern Tuscan coast, in Maremma. There you could stay along the Etruscan Coast (near Baratti Gulf) or in Castiglione della Pescaia (if you prefer sandy beaches) or you could reach Monte Argentario, staying in Porto Ercole if you prefer rocks.
They are all safe areas for two ladies, don't worry.
Hope my list can be helpful.
Kind regards

Good Evening, If you are looking for a place with a combination of several factors, perhaps the city of Saturnia may be what you want.
Saturnia is famous for its sulfur hot springs with water at 37 ° C, but also for its excellent location from which to start your visit to Pitigliano, Sovano, Montemerano, Capalbio and Monte Argentario.
Also good for a holiday wine tourism based on great food and wine, in the area there are lots of wineries to visit.

If one is single and available, would the choice of location to stay change and would it be more expensive if travelling alone?
